Why Speech?

I became a speech-language pathologist to continue to make a positive impact on the children that I work with. I originally wanted to be a teacher, but through my studies I learned that I could impact them on a different level. During a semester of student teaching, a speech therapist was in my classroom and I observed her help a few students in my class with their communication. The light switch clicked: I could still work with children, just not in an official teacher role, but as speech therapist. Instead of working with a full classroom, I am able to coach and teach children and their families individually how to communicate with each other. Soon after student teaching, I applied to graduate school and since then, I have been working with, serving and impacting the lives of children and their families in Philadelphia ever since! I hope I can get the opportunity to serve and work with you and your family!
